My husband and I have fond memories of going to drive-in movies when we were little. The kids were intrigued by the thought of going to a movie "outside." But finding a drive-in movie theater is hard today. The one I went to has closed and while the one my husband went to is still open, it is far away. Then I found out about drive-ins.com's drive-in theatre database. You can search by ZIP code, state, keywords, or via a clickable map. The database lists both open and closed drive-in movie theaters and many have pictures. I searched for open drive-ins in MA and found four. For open drive-ins, the database lists basic information like website, address and show times as well as historical facts, pictures and media coverage of that drive-in. The Boston Globe wrote a great story on drive-ins - it can be read here. Enjoy!
The four in MA are in: Mendon, Lunenburg, Leicester, and Wellfleet.
This is s really neat site. I just tried it for my area thinking that there would not be any around and it pulled up a few that were within 25 miles. While that's not as close as the nearest multiplex, it could be a really fun experience, so I'm thinking about trying it for datenight with my wife sometime.
